The Inner Wound
We all know how difficult it is to deal with mental illness, your studies, your relationships and most importantly your lifestyle, how it gets affected.
You know, the most difficult part? it is when your mental illness is treated as "a wound", the one society knows about and can see it. However, cannot feel it, and expects you to behave as normally as when you bruise your knee. Even a person with mental illness somehow may be able to make his/her peers, family and even society understand that he/she is suffering from mental illness but still may not be able to remove their expectation for them to behave like there is nothing.
So, its not a wound on the outside, its a wound inside, something which can't be seen, can't be felt. A wound which disturbs your mind, affects your mental peace and most importantly just jumble your thoughts, affect your routine, your mental capacity.
If you are suffering from mental illness, please note that your wound can't be seen, and by that I don't mean that people cannot judge your expressions, keep in mind, there is no "image" of a mentally ill person. So, speak up, tell them or they won't know, tell them or they won't understand.
If you are a family member, peer or a colleague of a mentally ill person, please understand that when they tell you what they are suffering from its not over and you cannot expect them to now act "perfectly fine", instead it just has started, tell them you are here for whatever happens, provide them with empathy, understanding and love.
Lets hold hands without the fear of leaving, lets lift those who trust and hold hands without leaving them on their own.
